than society , it becomes easier to conform to God ’ s ways and not get pulled into the temptations that come with our society . My 16-year-old daughter has done this . My wife and I never forced her to find God , but let her discover Him on her own . Yes , we took her to church as a child and talked to her about Christ but it was never forcefed . When she was about 14 , we saw her resistance to us and gently let her discover Jesus in her own way . For a while , we were worried that we had made a mistake by letting her figure out her own path in Him . We never pretended to be “ super Christians ”, but let her see our example and talked to her about our failings and our faith . Over two years through discovery learning , she came to Christ , not by us , but by her own free choice .
Why tell you this ? She is no longer conforming to society . Between age 14 and 16 , her friends changed , her attitude changed , and her inner light changed as she discovered who Christ is . Just the other day , she told me she wants to get closer to Jesus . Wow . She also isn ’ t afraid to let people know her beliefs and stance . She is braver than I could ever be at her age . She knows who she is and whose she is ; she is confident enough in her faith to not conform to what society says is right and wrong . She goes with what is God ’ s truth .
There is no perfect answer on how to live and deal with society and the ills of society that any person can give you . We do have the Bible and the Holy Spirit to guide us on how to do this . To gain confidence to stand up and to stand firm to society takes more than going to church only . It takes time , study , and prayer every day . The more intimate you are with the Word and prayer , there will be a confidence that will grow and bloom from within to enable you avoid the norms of society and not conform to them . Your strength comes from the Almighty God , not other people , to face society boldly . Adversity will come and will come hard at you at times , but standing firm in your faith and to the truth will get you through it .
Be proud you are a Christian . Wear your faith like people wear jerseys of their favorite teams . Don ’ t be ashamed of who you are ( a child of God ) or retreat when you are faced with adversity from society . Always be strong in Christ .
