FIRM IN FAITH

Christians are being pulled by two worlds : society ’ s world and the Christian world . Society has a strong grip on the world and it did on me before I was saved about six years ago . Only after I was saved and when I delved into the Word along with a prayer life did I begin to see the large difference between these two worlds . I began to see how society puts a lot of pressure on Christians to conform to their ways and not the way of truth as we know it to be . This pressure creates fear , gives to alienation , and some levels of persecution .
The society we live in is opposed to the values of those who follow Jesus . Everywhere you turn the face of modern society is staring at us and tempting us . Wherever we go , we are reminded that we are separate from mainstream society . We are set apart because of what society believes in , which is contrary to God . Being set apart in this society doesn ’ t make life any easier for us . We know we have the promise of eternity , but in terms of everyday living , there are pressures to put aside our beliefs and values in order to fit in and avoid being persecuted by words or actions . There is a great need for Christians to stand firm in our beliefs in the face of adversity .
