Falling prey to the things of this world is not hard to do . Every day we see famous people from all walks of life giving in to temptation in one way or another , losing face to the ridicule and stinging sarcasm of critics for the sake of ratings . It is not just on television or social media either , the more people we talk to throughout the day , the more we can see the problem - people yielding to different temptations , great and small . The problem is greater than it seems though , as temptation can come in the most elusive forms , always prepared to hit us in our most vulnerable moments . We can rest assured our Creator has not left us to our own devices , or we would be forever lost . On the contrary , we have not only been equipped with tools to fight back , but powerful weapons meant to demolish strongholds as Paul describes in 2nd Corinthians 10:4 : “ The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world . On the contrary , they have divine power to demolish strongholds .”

1st Corinthians 10:13 states , “ no temptation has seized you beyond what people normally experience , and God can be trusted not to allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear .”
What does this mean , and how does it affect us as Christians ? Can we truly live righteous lives in the face of the constant barrage of temptations around us ? How can we stay strong when we are feeling weak from the pressure of our daily lives ?

This fact is not due to the human race being inherently evil through and through , forever susceptible to the bitter torment of our unseen enemy . What we need to understand is that temptation will always be a part of our lives . Even in our best days , when we feel we have had a breakthrough in our relationship with Jesus , the enemy quickly comes in to remind us of our past and tempt us to fall back into our old lifestyle and mindset . We need to keep this in mind and be vigilant and ready so when it comes , we can recognize what it is , who is tempting us and why .
There are many reasons we are warned time and again to stay close to God and stand against temptation . One is the grasp sin can have over us when we take hold of it . There are some sins that are by their very nature , pitfalls that lead to downward spirals . The most obvious one , throughout all time , is sexual sin . In the physical , sex outside of marriage seems satisfying at the time , but outside of God ’ s plan , it will never be satisfying enough . Things can go from bad to worse quickly as the desire for more sets in , and one partner will not be enough to quench the thirst . In the spiritual , the problem is worse : sexual activity outside marriage opens spiritual doors that invite demonic influence into our lives , and more specifically , our bodies . There are many other negative influences premarital and extramarital pro-
