What is your best tips to someone that is about to start their
Bible art journaling?
For many, the hardest obstacle
to overcome seems to be the
whole idea of drawing and coloring in the Bible. You can always
purchase a journaling Bible with
wide margins specifically for
this purpose instead of using
the family Bible!
My best advice is to just dive in
and get started. Pick a Bible
verse, write it out on scrap paper, circle the key words that
speak to you, think about the
space you have to illustrate the
verse, and let the ideas take
shape.
Draw on your hobbies and artistic knowledge for inspiration.
Doing artwork inside a book
presents a few constraints, but

the possibilities are truly endless. On the whole, I’ve been
pleasantly surprised by the variety of media that work well on
thin Bible pages.
And, if you (like me) have no
prior creative hobbies and very
little artistic knowledge, all that
you really need to get started is
a Bible and some good pens.
(Sakura Pigma Micron 5.0 pens
are a really good choice!) As
you see techniques that you
would like to try, you can always
add to your art supply collection.
