Unconditional Love This Lent I started to follow a new Bible study about Easter but I did not get far before I got stuck. It was on the verse from Mark 14:3-8, the story about the woman anointing Jesus’ head with ointment of pure nard. again after my “Hit the wall” period in my life, my faith have grown tremendously. I have been pondering upon this verse and brought it into my heart and prayers. It is a wonderful story that I haven’t paid much attention to earlier. One of the things I have been pondering over is why she chose to break the vial; she could just have poured it over Jesus without breaking it. I guess that if you give away something to Jesus you don’t want it back (just like our sins) … and she broke the vial … Mark 14:3 When I meet God face to face I would love to hear Him say, “Anna, my beloved child, you did what you could, many others did more, some did less, but you took what I gave you and you did what you could.” This story is a good reminder that loving Jesus is all I have to do and that small things done in faith and love also counts. While searching the Internet for interpretation and thoughts I came across a sermon, “Overwhelming love” by Melvin Newland and he came up with three interesting conclusions, that; “she found a way to express her love, she expressed her love extravagantly and she did what she could.” I think that this is a good way to interpret this story and I can relate to it. Very often when I think about Jesus sacrificing himself for mankind and me, it’s hard for me to take in that kind of love. One way I express myself is by letting out water through my eyes.
