I then took the stripped book cover and reinforced it’s spine using double-sided tape and a cutout from cardboard. The surface of the cover is too glossy so I sanded it down so that the primer would get a good grip. Next, put on a coat of “Gesso”. Finish the cover using some watered down red and gold “Inka Gold” from Viva. Add more paint for that nice shiny surface! On the inside I glued down some old scrap hymnal paper and added some watered down “Inka Gold”. I wrapped some plain flax string around the spine and pushed the signatures behind the string into position, one signature per string. To get some texture I added two layers of napkins, using matte gel medium to glue it down.
