The new year Some old advices for the new year “ With the new year, we need new eyes I love going into second hand stores and looking for old books for inspiration and recently I found an interesting devotional book. It´s written in 1935 by a man who called himself Theo Doros, but the real name of this Swedish preacher was Lantz Oskar Theodor. The book title translates to ”The Seven Paragraph’s Book everyday advice and weekend ideas.” I like this book a lot and every devotional is written in seven paragraphs. The explana- tion he gives is this: ”Why seven paragraphs? Well, it’s only a whim. But the number seven is sacred and often occurs both in the Bible and in nature. Count the stars of Big Dipper! I like the number seven.” -Theo Doros The first seven paragraphs in the book are about how to greet the new year and these advises is working today as well as 75 years ago. So I want to present to you, ”7 new year wishes” for 2016, inspired by Theo Doros. When I was working on the translation I added some Bible verses that spoke to my heart 7 New year wishes 1. Fresh eyes. With the new year, we need new eyes. We need clear-sighted eyes to perceive things correctly, it is only love that enables us to see the procedures inside events. “The eye is the lamp of the body. So if your eye is sound, your entire body will be full of light.” Matthew 6:22 2. New ideals. With the old year the old ideals should be put behind us as well. But without ideals we are neither able nor willing to live. 28 Faith Crafter January 2016 www.faithcrafter.com
