Classification of
Textile Fibres
Each fibre has properties that contribute
favourably and less favourable to a textile
fabric. For example, cotton can shrink and
wrinkle easily, but is comfortable because it
absorbs moisture and has a soft handle.
Fibres are classified into 2 groups:
• Natural
• Manufactured (man-made)
