Fabric Structure - Woven Weaving Warp and Weft Weaving A woven item consists of two yarn systems; the warp yarns run lengthways and the weft yarns run widthways. The desired material is obtained depending on how the two chainsystems are woven together. There are many different weaves, but they can all be traced back to three basic weaves: canvas, twill and satin Warp yarns are yarns running lengthwise down the fabric and from top to bottom of the weaving loom. Weft yarns are yarns running horizontally across the fabric and fill in between the warp yarns across the width of the loom.
