Rainbow Rice By: Ashlee Steward Are you looking to add a little colour to your sensory trays this summer? Try rainbow rice! You can make this using rice and neon paint (or the brightest colours you can find!). It takes moments to make and lasts for ages as long as you put it back in the correct storage containers for each class. It makes a wonderful addition to any sensory tray and looks great on crafts too! Simply tip the rice into giant zip locs, squeeze in a large dollop of each colour neon paint, seal and distribute the paint evenly - very simple! Just mix the colour through, tip it straight out onto a tray or baking sheet, then leave it to dry. It won’t take long to dry in this heat (pop it outside if you wish) and the colours will be very bright and cheerful. You could tip it all into a large sensory tub, add some scoops, plastic spoons, silicon cupcake cases and more. The children will love it! If you wanted to extend the learning, you could use it as a treasure hunt (hide lots of summer themed toys inside).
