EYE FOCUS | COVER STORY Shades are available in four lens colour options - neutral grey, high contrast lens bronze, Maui rose and Maui high transmission. There are also eight frontside lens treatments, including four mirrored and three dual-mirrored options. Sunglass styles range from aviators to cat-eye to classic, wrap and rimless options. “Our designers begin every new sun- glasses style with the lenses and their view of the world through them,” Speiran says. “Instead of following trends, they build upon things that inspire them in their day-to-day life on the islands; the environments and its people. We build styles that fit a variety of lifestyles because we all live varied lives, whether for work, play, travel or exploring, there is a Maui Jim that fits your needs.” In June, Maui Jim launched a new Canada Collection, which is avail- able only in stores in Canada through authorized Maui Jim dealers. The sunglass collection includes three styles - the unisex classic round Koko Head, unisex wraparound model Sting- ray and unisex classic with a slight wrap model Kahi. Each style features a black gloss fin- ish frame with Canadian flag logo on the temple and Canadian flag im- print on the interior of the temples. The frames come with a cleaning cloth and zippered case with match- ing Canadian flag designs. Maui Jim also offers optical frames. The first collection was officially launched in 2018 at Vision Expo East in New York City. The Optical Collection features frames made from acetate, spe- cialty metals and thin injected nylon. Styles range from rectangle and square shapes to rimless, round and oval models. All of its optical lenses include CLEARSHELL scratch-resistant coating, premium front and backside anti-reflective coatings and advanced hydrophobic/oleophobic coatings and offer 100 per cent UV protection. Maui Jim offers a full range of lens ma- terials to meet each patients’ needs. They also offer Maui Blue Light Protect lenses, which provide all-day protection against the potentially harmful effects of blue light, and Maui Jim High Contrast Lenses, which offer better resolution, more contrast and crisper details. Speiran says Maui Jim plans to con- tinue evolving in the eyewear space by reinvesting in lens technologies to respond to and anticipate consumer demands. “We will continue to deliver on our industry-leading customer service and treat our employees and partners with Aloha. And we will continue to navigate and grow strategic partner- ships,” he says. More information about Maui Jim can be found online at mauijim.com 18 EYE FOCUS August Digital 2019
