Infant Colic—
What Every Parent Needs to Know

babies during the first six to 12 weeks of life.

It’s extremely important to consult with your pediatrician to rule out any serious underlying medical problems before
deciding to treat your baby with over-the-counter medications or remedies. Although gripe water has been used for years,
there is no published scientific research to show that it is effective, and some of the other available remedies contain
chemical ingredients such as simethicone (a synthetic chemical), or herbs that are not even organic!
