Part 3
On January 22, just one day before my
birthday and one week after Ryan’s,
our son Murphy was born. There’s
nothing like hearing the sound of
your baby cry for the first time—it’s
miraculous. He weighed in at
a ponderous eight pounds and
measured 19 regal inches. I think
that at least ties the world record for
largest baby ever born this side of the
Mississippi! I’ll never forget looking at
him and holding him for the first time
after he was cleaned up and swaddled.
He was absolutely perfect.
