And We’re Off!
Oh 2020, what a year you’ve been – and we still have a quarter of you left
The Kentucky Derby has numerous catch phrases
associated with it – from “Happy Derby” to “Doing Derby”
to “It’s Derby time.”
But nothing induces more chills and anticipation then
to hear the race caller – these days the legendary Larry
Collmus – announce: “And they’re off” at the start, knowing
every fan watching is riding along, too.
This year, however, doesn’t it feel like we’re all off, so to speak?
So why not enjoy the upcoming weekend, whether you have
plans to make the most of this year’s no-fans Derby spectacular,
hide away from the world, or make the most of being productive.
Here are a few ways to enjoy it.
Get grilling.
The forecast for Labor Day/Derby weekend looks
lovely and perfect for grilling. Preferred Meats in
Sellersburg offer fresh hand-cut and hand-ground
meats, sides, adult beverages, veggies and so
much more. Wherever you shop for your grilling
goods, be sure to take advantage of the long
weekend and mostly sunny days ahead.
Take a one-tank trip.
Get out and explore a new-to-you Southern
Indiana city or attraction.
Clifty Falls State Park in Madison is open to the
public and has been hopping for good reason.
It’s easy to social distance, there are plenty of
activities to enjoy while there, and we call know
getting outdoors is good for us in myriad ways.
Not into unwinding at a park? Sip, savor and
shop at French Lick Winery and Vintage Café and
see why this locale keeps garnering rave reviews.
