Megan Brooks is a business owner, mom of two and two-time cancer survivor. Megan was shocked when she learned she had cervical cancer at age 29, but her care team at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire quickly came up with a game plan. She had surgery in Rochester within three weeks and then was cancer-free. Her cancer came back, and the news was overwhelming, but she trusted her care team. Megan had radiation and chemotherapy treatments for five weeks. She had to lean on her family and friends for help. Megan will round the bases at the Eau Claire Express game on June 29 during her “Home Run for Life”. Sometimes life throws a curveball. Pat Rozeske went to Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire thinking she had the fl u. Her care team discovered she had an irregular heart beat and leaking heart valve. Her surgeon performed minimally invasive heart surgery, requiring a small puncture instead of a sternotomy to repair her valve, which made her recovery faster.
