We ’ ll dispense with ‘ The Prisoner ’ and move straight along to the marvellous , theatrical setting , which in itself is more than worth the visit to Portmeirion .
There are an array of room types available in the village , the hotel and Castell Deudraeth , including spacious double rooms with oak floors , kitchenettes and underfloor heating .
For dinner ( hotel ), you could expect Cauliflower and white onion soup with curried pearl barley and parmesan to start and Halibut , aubergine caviar , king prawns , black olive braised potatoes and coconut for main .
If you have never visited Portmeirion , it thoroughly deserves a place at the top of your list .

The hotel offers rooms across four types , including the Madona Suite , with a super king bed , free standing bath , shower , TV / DVD and simply charming window overlooking the bay .
For dinner , as you may have guessed , you could expect seafood dishes such as pan-fried scallops , cauliflower purée and crisp Serrano ham to start , followed by Pan roast fillet of monkfish , aubergine caviar , tomato tortellini and charred courgette for main ( meat eaters are well catered for too ).
The hard-working team provide good local food and drink in an excellent atmosphere . The Harbourmaster advise booking ahead for evenings in the restaurant .
