Best suited for experienced surfers , it can be rippy and the perfect conditions are a south west swell , north east wind in all tides .
02 MANORBIER
Beachpeaks beneath the Norman castle ruins are mellow with a more advanced right hand reef . Perfect conditions are south to west swell , north east wind at mid-tide .
03 PORTHCAWL
A popular beach for beginners with mellow waves . The most consistent break found at Rest Bay . Perfect conditions south to west swell , north east ( Coney beach ) or east ( Rest Bay ) wind at all tides .

04 NEWGALE
Excellent for beginners with waves at most tides . There are plenty of options to hire equipment and take lessons . Perfect conditions being a south to west swell , north east wind at mid-tide .
05 LANGLAND BAY
The shore break can be fast at high tide . Crab Island reef is inconsistent , but excellent when it is on . For beginners , Caswell Bay is ideal . Perfect conditions are south west or west swell , north wind at all tides .
06 FRESHWATER WEST
Home to the Welsh National Surfing Championships , this is widely accepted as one of the most consistent places to surf . Lessons are available and the facilities good . At times it may be unmanageable for all but experienced locals . If so , Manorbier or Whitesands nearby may provide smaller surf .
07 HELLS MOUTH
Hells Mouth at Llyn Peninsula sounds scary , but typically it is mellow , perfect conditions south to west swell , north east wind at all tides .

Very popular with beginners , especially during summer . Perfect conditions south to west swell , east wind at all tides .
09 RHOSSILI
Relatively exposed beach with quite consistent surf at any time of the year . The beach breaks provide left and rights . It can get crowded .
10 OXWICH BAY
Popular beach and ok for beginners . It can become crowded . There are a couple of right hand point breaks , but both are for experienced surfers .
11 ABERYSTWYTH HARBOUR TRAP
Very popular , it is not recommended for beginners . A reef creates a right and left hand peak .

Borth is suitable for beginners , with peaks along the beach . There is a left hand point break .
13 LLANDDULAS BREAKWATER
Not ideal for beginners , there can be dangerous rips . Winter and spring are the best times to visit . Offshore winds blow from the west .
14 RHOSNEIGR
A consistent spot that is best left for the experienced , the rip tides can be a problem and the rip is strongest at the rockier southern edge .
