In Brentwood Bay, British Columbia, Canada, near Victoria on Vancouver Island, more than a century ago Jennie
Butchart began transforming an abandoned quarry into one
of the world’s foremost floral show gardens. This garden
welcomes close to one million visitors each year, and has
been claimed as a National Historic Site of Canada. Each
garden—including the sunken garden, the concert lawn,
rose garden, Italian garden and Mediterranean garden—all
contribute to drawing people from all around the world.

Hatley Park

BEAUTIFUL ARCHITECTURE.
For anyone who wants to roam through gardens or just
pay visits to estates along the sea then the Hatley Park
National Historic Site is for you. This Edwardian Estate,
built by James and Laura Dunsmuir in 1906, contains
565 acres of gardens, forests with hiking trails, a seaside
lagoon with bird watching, and of course the impressive
castle. Not only does Hatley Park feature 250-year-old
Douglas fir trees, it also contains hidden geocaching
treasures.
