The relatively small interior space of Pagliacci ’ s comes alive with warmth and energy as tables quickly fill up at one of Victoria ’ s most popular Italian eateries . Be sure to check the website for band schedules , as for over 35 years , an eclectic mix of local musicians grace the stage and provide a memorable addition to your dinner visit .
Speaking of fun , just reading over the menu is sure to elicit a smile or laugh as nearly all items sport a witty name or play on words such as “ Bill Murray ’ s Meatballs ” or “ Prawns Al Capone - Untouchable ”.
Lunchtime favorites include “ Mr . Roberts ”, a seafood lasagna loaded with Dungeness and rock crab , baby shrimp and mozzarella served with tomato sauce , and the bottomless soup is a steal at just eight dollars .
For dinner , you can ’ t go wrong with “ The Raging Bull ”, a 10-ounce AAA New York Cut with peppercorn sauce and a touch of cream , seasonal vegetables and fettuccine or risotto . Up for adventure ? A BIT DECEIVING BY THE name , Ferris ’ Oyster Bar isn ’ t simply an oyster bar , or even just a bar . In fact , the three story building is home to three very unique restaurants , each with their own kitchen , menus and tastes ; Ferris ’ Downstairs Grill & Garden Patio , Ferris ’ Upstairs Seafood & Oyster Bar , and Perro Negro Tappas + Wine .
Ferris ’ Downstairs Grill & Garden Patio specializes in casual fare such as burgers , pastas , seafood and of course oysters . Ferris ’ Upstairs Seafood & Oyster Bar focuses on the richness of locally sourced seafood and shellfish , while also featuring pork and beef from Alberta . This is where you find such delectable offerings such as the Prosciutto Wrapped Long Line Ling Cod , and the Certified Angus Beef ( available up to a 32-ounce porterhouse for two ). Perro Negro came about in 2014 , and reflects on the casual nature of a classic Spanish tappas bar .
Chef and owner Dave Craggs grew up on Vancouver Island digging clams , roasting oysters on beach fires , and immersing himself in seafood culture . He travels frequently to Spain , and this Mediterranean influence can be seen in his culinary style .
