I bet you read somewhere that it is good to start your day with water and lemon. It is one of the things I recommend to my cleanse clients and something that I follow seasonally. But what is it good for?

Here is my recipe:

Squeeze the juice of one lemon, add a teaspoon of honey, mix with warm water and drink first thing in the morning. I recommend to wait 30 minutes, or at least 15, before eating breakfast.

Here are some of the awesome benefits of drinking this warm lemonade every morning:

-It helps to flush the digestive system and helps the body get rid of toxins and impurities.

-Lemon, while acidic, has an alkalizing effect on the body, which helps reduce inflammation. Great if you have inflamed and achy joints.

-Lemon and honey are both powerful antibacterials, and help the body fight infections and diseases, strengthening the immune system.

-Lemons contain many nutrients, including: vitamin C, potassium, calcium, magnesium and more. Honey contains many important trace minerals as well. -Providing your body a very nutritious morning drink.

-Lemon helps strengthen and flush out toxins from the liver.

-It is a great remedy for constipation!

-It is a diuretic drink, which helps your body get rid of excess water retention and it cleanses your urinary tract. It is a great aid for urinary tract infections.

-It has an energizing and uplifting effect. Drinking this mixture regularly will help you feel lighter, and the fresh smell of lemon is a great energy and mood booster.

-It purifies your blood.

-It helps you rejuvenate and restore.

-It helps your body produce more collagen.

-It makes your skin glow and makes your eyes sparkle!!!

If lemons are too acidic for you, try substituting it with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, or a teaspoon of fresh chopped ginger. They will have similar effects and benefits.
