Exhibition World Supplements Russia Supplement | Page 3

Russia From Russia with exhibition love ear readers, We are pleased to present to you this new supplement and update on Russia’s exhibition industry and its potential for international exhibitions. The importance of mutual trust and collaboration has grown manifold against the backdrop of the current international situation. The exhibition business is playing a crucial role in this work; like no other it connects countries and continents and unites partners from all over the world. This role is played in Russia by the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs (RUEF), which has remained active and efficient despite ongoing international tensions. The Union was born as a family of professionals, initially consisting of only a few organisations. Currently, we unite major exhibition companies from all the federal districts of Russia; we represent the Russian integrated exhibition community, and we are known and listened to by both Russian and foreign business communities and authorities. Over the period of more than 25 years of its existence, the Union has made a sizable contribution to the advancement of the domestic exhibition business. Still we realise that we have much to do to fully develop normative regulation of the industry, and to foster the infrastructures and state support for our exhibition activity, to encourage enterprises to take part in exhibitions, and to work in a number of other areas, too. No matter the objective difficulties, RUEF keeps up with global trends, sets itself new and ever challenging tasks for itself, launches new projects and, by doing so, comprehensively promotes the advancement of the Russian exhibition industry, domestic goods and services, as well as international co-operation. In 2018 Russia was honoured to host the 85th UFI Global Congress. This signal event, including the special Russia in Focus session, once more presented Russia as ‘Open to the World’. This special supplement is published to support those involved in Russian and foreign business activity in order to strengthen direct partner links and further develop mutual trade and partnership in economics. I hope the edition will help also to make a better acquaintance of the Russian exhibition industry and major destinations.
