EW encounters more interesting tidbits, gleaned from the exhibitions world industtravelling Dog pound Shout About London has announced the launch of a canine-centric indoor market, coming to the UK capital’s South Bank on 14 October. It promises to deliver ‘haute couture for hounds’, including pet groomers, portraits and more. Thirst quenchers from Bottom Sniffer Beer and Pawsecco will be available, alongside a pick of artisan and healthy treats. Safest city Abu Dhabi has been named the safest city in the world for the second year running by Numbeo, a website that collates data about cities and countries worldwide. Surpassing more than 300 cities across the world, the UAE capital’s safety index has risen from 86.46 points for the fi rst half of last year to 88.26 points during the fi rst six months of this year. Skills aplenty EuroSkills, described as the ‘Olympics of professions’, took place at HUNGEXPO in Budapest from 26-28 September. The European Championship of young professionals saw nearly 100,000 visitors attending over three days. The event is held once every two years in one of the WorldSkills Europe member states. Happy living? A new global survey is hoping to discover if tourism has a positive or negative impact on the lives of local residents. The survey, called Planet Happiness, is being carried out across World Heritage sites. It is encouraging people who live and work there to take a 15-minute online survey into happiness. Hong Kong long distance Following almost 20 years of planning and construction, the Hong Kong Express Rail Link opened on 23 September. The rail line connects Hong Kong with the rest of mainland China’s 25,000km long national high-speed rail network for the fi rst time, and will greatly increase travel capability for events.
