Global Snapshot India - Reed Exhibitions, a division of RELX, has announced the acquisition of PackPlus - a portfolio of tradefairs previously owned by Next Events, serving the Indian packaging industry. Launched in 2006, PackPlus, an annual event held in Delhi, has established itself as India’s largest dedicated gathering of trade professionals in the packaging industry. The PackPlus portfolio has expanded to include PackPlus South (Bengaluru/ Hyderabad) and the India Packaging Show in Mumbai. w w w.exhibitionworld.co.uk Australia - A series of major events came to Brisbane in May 2019, and were set to inject AUD$100m into the city’s economy. They included the inaugural National Rugby League (NRL) Magic Round Brisbane and the Brisbane Truck Show. Deputy Mayor Krista Adams commented: “Hosting the Brisbane Truck Show and the NRL Magic Round Brisbane enhanced Brisbane’s reputation as a destination for world-class events, sport fixtures and exhibitions, and gave residents plenty to do over the two weeks.” Hong Kong - The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) said its statistics show 236,000 buyers and 12,300 exhibitors gathered in Hong Kong for the seven tradefairs it organised in April alone, with over 9,500 coming from Mainland China and overseas. Overseas tradefair participants are generating HK$1.3bn (US$170m) in income for Hong Kong according to extrapolations from new figures that show an average per capita spend of MICE overnight visitors of HK$8,218.
