Global Snapshot Global snapshot EW explores some regional news highlights in the global exhibitions industry Miami - ReedPOP, the world’s largest producer of pop culture events and part of Reed Exhibitions, has announced that Florida Supercon will be joining its collection of global fan conventions. Florida Supercon is an annual convention held in Miami, Florida celebrating comics, superheroes, science fiction, anime, cartoons, video games, wrestling and all things pop culture. Lance Fensterman, Global President of ReedPOP, commented: “We are thrilled with the addition of Florida Supercon to the ReedPOP family. Mike Broder and his team have done an amazing job in making this show one that has incredible fan and industry support. We plan to spend time listening to the fans and exhibitors and then investing. Belgium - The EU policy on information and promotion for agricultural products is intended to help open up new markets, and it has made €200m of funding available for the purpose. Exhibition companies active in the sector are encouraged to apply. Under the slogan, ‘Enjoy, it’s from Europe’, the policy is designed to help agricultural organisations promote EU agri-food into international markets. Beneficiaries can receive up to 80% EU funding for their promotion campaigns in the internal market or in third countries. Programmes can cover a wide range of issues, from general campaigns on healthy eating to specific market sectors. 6 Issue 2 2019 South Africa - The Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) is rolling out its cashless services to all clients, having initiated a cashless system for all food and beverage stations last year, most notably during the Cape Town International Jazz Festival on site. Julie-May Ellingson, CEO of the CTICC, says that experiment was such a success last year, they are taking it a step further. “The cashless system is safer and so much quicker – instead of a card, festival-goers can simply swipe their CTIJF wristband.” India - NürnbergMesse’s international programme of tradefairs has added another exhibition to its now 16-strong portfolio. The India Mattresstech Expo is a dedicated tradefair for mattress and upholstery manufacturing. Peter Ottmann, CEO of NürnbergMesse Group, commented: “The event covers an important sub-segment of the furniture industry and creates valuable synergies for our exhibitors and visitors.
