30 UNDER THIRTY Kimberley Barnes Clarion Events, Event Manager “At only 28, Kim has been promoted five times in as many years and has been at the centre of Phacilitate’s success. She interacts with our VIPs and top speakers like they’re best friends and has become our gateway into some of the most influential people and communities in biotech.” In five years’ time: I’d like to have developed the skills to head up a portfolio of events within Clarion, leading the design, management and execution of a portfolio I also want to work more ‘on the business’ implementing best practice across the Clarion Group. From here, I’d like to do more to support the wider events industry, potentially sitting on association development boards including the AEO. James Bishton Telegraph Events, Senior Sales Executive “Since joining Telegraph Events in 2012 James has been promoted three times in six years, and now holds the role of senior sales executive. He has gone on to become best performing sales executive in the consumer events department.” In five years’ time: I would like to be running and managing a lifestyle event which combines sports, music, arts, food an beverage. I’m interested in being an event director working collaboratively with the various departments to curate a unique and exciting experience that appeals to both visitors and exhibitors/sponsors alike. 8 Olivia Boswell Ascential Events, Project Manager “Olivia has hit the ground running at Ascential, taking on project management and delivery for key client The UK Department for International Trade at Money 2020 Europe. She is currently delivering a bespoke programme for 150 Chinese exhibitors to attend Autumn Fair.” In five years’ time: I will be in a career position where I feel I make a real impact on the company and environment within which I work, as well as real satisfaction and creativity within the role. Elizabeth Brodie Easyfairs, Head of Marketing “Elizabeth (Libby) has exhibitions in her DNA. She started her events career as a marketing executive on the bridal portfolio at Ocean Media, and is now the youngest head of marketing in the history of Easyfairs at 27 years old.” In five years’ time: I will be ensuring that I am working hard to become a role model for junior entrants to the exhibition industry, leading the charge of having more women in senior positions across the industry and ensuring the company I’m working for is growing and serving its exhibitors, visitors and stakeholders. 2018 | exhibitionnews.co.uk
