Partner Comment Hope for the future Matt Coyne, commercial director at Visit by GES, on embracing the fresh perspectives of younger industry professionals “For young, less experienced industry professionals, it can sometimes feel like they’re in a David versus Goliath situation” Having read all of the nominations, it was a tough choice whittling down only 30 to be a part of the class of 2019. There’s a great mix of entries, exceptional calibre of people in our industry…you know, the usual sentiments. That is not to take away from the seriousness of the entries, but it’s the same every year. And by the same I mean the calibre of entries is nothing less than inspiring to read. The creativity, the commitment, the aspirations. It’s great to see that we have such an engaged and enthusiastic future generation, aspiring to achieve greatness. We can learn so much from the EN 30 Under 30. They bring fresh perspectives, helping us to look at new ways of doing things. New ways 12 — EN 30 Under 30 of engaging with customers. They are risk-takers, wanting to make a name for themselves and their brands. They are innovators, looking at new ways of adapting old stories into new exciting models for our industries customers. For young, less experienced industry professionals, it can sometimes feel like they’re in a David versus Goliath situation. It can be intimidating to join in at our industry events, where people that have been doing it a while, know and talk to other people that have also been doing it a while. Where inner circles are hard to break into. Where sometimes, youth isn’t necessarily seen as a positive, and more of an indicator that “they have a lot to learn”. While that statement is true, they do have so much to learn, with their eyes wide open and their brains thirsty for information, they also have so much to give. They are immensely passionate about what they do and with their applications, while strikingly candid and thoughtful, they show integrity to their craft, to their teams and that they are hungry to keep apace with our ever- evolving industry. Using their skills, their knowledge and their accomplishments, it gives us enormous hope for the future! Congratulations Class of 2019. We salute you.
