FEATURE Chocolat Show Later this month, The Chocolate Show will be welcoming sweet-toothed visitors to Olympia London. Kate Johns, UK director, tells us more Tell us a bit about the show – how did it start? Salon du Chocolat launched The Chocolate Show in London fi ve years ago, creating the premier event for the chocolate industry’s key players and their sweet-toothed followers here in the UK. Since then the show has grown, this year expecting more than 20,000 visitors over the course of the three days to taste and purchase exciting creations from over one hundred participants. What makes the show unique? It’s the only UK consumer show celebrating the nation’s favourite sweet treat. It’s about more than bars and truffl es; visitors will also fi nd ice cream, patisserie, cake, cocktails, sculptures, even savoury dishes made with chocolate. There will be an incredible array of interactive activities, as well as a stellar line-up of celebrity chefs demonstrating their own beautiful chocolate recipes for all to see. 37 What kind of exhibitors will be at the show? The show will present innovative exhibitors from across the globe, all fl aunting their craft and skill with chocolate in hundreds of wondrous forms and fl avours. Chocolatiers, chocolate producers, bakers, sweet makers and pastry chefs will all be exhibiting their incredible creations. What’s new for 2017? The show consistently features new and exciting changes from year to year. This October a whole host of fun surprises awaits visitors, not least a Chocolate Bar – the perfect location to sip on delicious, carefully selected wines and spirits alongside equally delicious chocolates. There will even be pairing opportunities, allowing visitors to explore the wonderful bond between alcohol and cacao besides the classic chocolate-liqueur. Hotel Chocolat will host a series of wonderful masterclasses with their world-renowned expertise and enabling attendees to bring the skills of the professional chocolatier into their own home! There will be an incredible array of interactive activities to check out, as well as a stellar line-up of celebrity chefs (including Nadiya Hussain, John Whaite and Paul A. Young) demonstrating their own beautiful chocolate recipes for all to see. How important is it for visitors to be able to sample the products? It’s extremely important; we’re very keen that visitors have the opportunity to sample some of the fi nest chocolate in the world.
