June 2018 | exhibitionnews.co.uk Expede Group acquires Freshers Festival Group The Expede Group, owner of YADA Events and The Event Marketing Machine, has announced the acquisition of the Freshers Festival Group. Freshers Festival runs a Scottish student event, bringing together hundreds of global food and drink brands, bars and clubs and retail providers such as Just Eat and IKEA. In partnership with YADA Events, 2018- 2020 will see Freshers Festival expand its operations to several cities across the UK including London, Manchester, Birmingham and more. We loved working with Graeme and the team over the last few years and we cannot wait to help bring their events to life across the UK.’’ Industry gears up for Global Exhibition Day The third Global Exhibitions Day, an annual celebration of the global exhibition industry, is set to take place on 6 June. The initiative is coordinated by UFI and supported by 41 associations, and aims to raise awareness of the exhibition industry on a global scale. Industry professionals and students around the world have been very active in the GED online campaign and many organisations are also preparing local events for GED18. Corrado Peraboni, UFI president, commented: “The GED initiative started in 2016 and the number of participants has grown rapidly over time. Exhibitions are a unique marketing tool for companies and provide a high return on investment for participants as well as the territories where they are held. “The exhibition industry deserves stronger recognition and GED is the perfect opportunity to do this!”
