I started out on a graduate programme with Tourism Ireland working on golf and business tourism and progressed from there. Favourite thing about events? The people – it’s a fun and friendly industry to work in and you’re always out and about meeting new people and making new friends. 2 What do you think you can bring to the new role? Enthusiasm, tenacity, a different perspective. Oh, and some good Irish slang! 58 What have you done in the first month in the job? Adapted to agency life – it’s quite a change after having been in-house, but I’m loving it. What’s on your desk? Hand sanitiser, a Guinness stress ball, several industry and company reports, two phones, my Mac, my notebook, some post-it notes, coffee and satsumas. 3 How do you intend to face the challenges in the industry? Head on. Biggest frustration? CRM systems. Crowning moment? Swimming with dolphins in Mexico (with clients). 4 Best piece of advice? Don’t panic, take a deep breath. Dream job? Chocolate taster! Newton has more than 14 years of experience in sales, events and customer service.
