People are different
My partner Dana couldn ’ t come to Basauri , so I asked some german students what was the most surprising thing about the Basque Country , and they said that it was people .
People here are very open-minded and helpful and they are all very nice and kind with people they don ’ t know . Their feeling is that everyone knows everyone and all of us are friends . However , german people are a bit distant at first , and not so open-minded , but anyway they are kind and honest . If you know them better , they are very crazy and funny . The main difference is that germans don ’ t show how they really are to everybody , only to people they know and trust .
They were surprised that here people shout anywhere they are , at home , in the school , in the street , with friends …, while german people only shout in private , at home with their families .
Something that was strange for her was punctuality . In Germany , if they are going to meet at 6pm they arrive at the place where they are going to meet at 6pm . In the Basque Country , if they are going to meet at 6pm , they leave home at 6pm , and they always arrive late .
