Natural Fear Remedies Cloves An old Indian remedy for fear and stress is to suck on a clove. The clove can have a calming effect on fear. Passion Flower Research conducted by the Maryland University and Medical Center shows the Passion Flower can work as well as benzodiazepine medications that are frequently prescribed for treating anxiety. Studies revealed that the Passion Flower worked more quickly than prescribed medication and while another study showed that there was a reduction in anxiety, irritability, agitation and depression in test subjects. Passion Flower can be used in extract form or drunk in a tea. Lavender Using Lavender essential oils on your temples, in a bath, and on your pillow can help to soothe your anxiety. Lavender is effective because the aromatic molecules can cross blood/brain barrier which allows the scent to have a direct effect on the part of the brain which controls stress, anxiety, depression and fear. Lemon Balm Soothes the nervous system and can induce sleep when you want to it but it does not impair concentration or impair mental abilities. Taken as a tea or in a lozenge. Chamomile Chamomile contains natural compounds that have a calming and sedating action which helps relieve insomnia.
