UNEMPLOYMENT GOES DOWN
As recently as 2010, unemployment in Volusia County
exceeded 12%. In Flagler County, the rate was more than
15%. But now rate in both counties is well south of 5%. In
fact, so significant have gains in employment been, that
CareerSource Flagler Volusia trimmed its own staff since
its funding is tied to unemployment. CareerSource CEO
Robin King explains that services remain intact as people
continue to change from job to job, the underemployed find
better positions, and the needs of local companies evolve.
It’s all part of the economic development eco-system, she
explains, and she is eager for her organization to contribute
to the community’s success. She is also committed to
the community’s success through her role as a Board
Level investor in Team Volusia EDC. She understands the
importance of recruiting new companies to the area, and
helping local companies grow.
