The Commercial
Dance Conservatory
(CMD) presented its
annual Spring Concert featuring students from 9th-12th
grade March 12-13
at the Webb Theater. In the eclectic
performance, each
class presented three
dances, ranging from
tap to hip hop to
modern ballet.
The dancing was
spectacular, with
hand springs and
leaps and pirouttes in
vibrant costumes. But
the most impressive
movement weren’t
the flips or the alsocones, but the small
gestures in unison:
This may be with
something as simple
as moving wrists or
shaking heads.
Although the
dance was intense,
the only complaint is
that the show could
have been longer.
Including intermission, the entire perofmance was about
an hour and a half.
OCSA shows have
a reputation for being hectic and draining, but junior Lacey
Smith (CMD) feels
the process is better
in contrast to recitals at other studios.
