We recommend...
the hunt and its members to
cross the fields during the day,
so please have respect for the
land and any livestock you
may come along remembering
to shut any gates. As a rule of
thumb, if you have any doubts
as to whether the gate should
be shut always close it, you
never no there might be 200
sheep out of sight of you in
the field and the last thing you
want is the livestock running
free, this may also impact on
future crossing of the land.
Obstacles along the way
During the day you will
get the chance to negotiate
obstacles so enjoy yourself, if
you know your horse is not a
reliable jumper please don’t
push to the front of the field
and find yourself refusing and
blocking the fence for the rest
of the field. Patience is the key,
let the rest of the field pop the
fence allowing the horse to
lead from them. If your horse
does refuse move away from
the obstacle immediately and
go to the back of the queue to
try again, common practice is
to not jump the queue.
During the day you may
find the hounds walking past
you if this happens always
make sure your horse is facing
the hounds, this can help
prevent the hounds getting a
kick from your horse.
