We recommend... the hunt and its members to cross the fields during the day, so please have respect for the land and any livestock you may come along remembering to shut any gates. As a rule of thumb, if you have any doubts as to whether the gate should be shut always close it, you never no there might be 200 sheep out of sight of you in the field and the last thing you want is the livestock running free, this may also impact on future crossing of the land. Obstacles along the way During the day you will get the chance to negotiate obstacles so enjoy yourself, if you know your horse is not a reliable jumper please don’t push to the front of the field and find yourself refusing and blocking the fence for the rest of the field. Patience is the key, let the rest of the field pop the fence allowing the horse to lead from them. If your horse does refuse move away from the obstacle immediately and go to the back of the queue to try again, common practice is to not jump the queue. During the day you may find the hounds walking past you if this happens always make sure your horse is facing the hounds, this can help prevent the hounds getting a kick from your horse. Many years ago there was no such things as mobile phones, however they are now a part of every day living. Although they are an excellent itinerary items in times of danger or accident! It is recommended to keep phones on silent in a part of your clothing that has a zip to secure.
