at the level to stepping up to higher levels on a horse lacking experience, Angus rode each test professionally and stylishly, displaying his talent in riding a variety of horses with varying competition experience and training. Angus narrowly missed out on a podium finish in the Advanced Medium Championship with Grayswood Orlando who finished 4th with 68.38%. The 13 year old gelding who Angus describes as his ‘‘Mr Consistent’’ was the first reserve for the Pony European Championships this year and was 2nd in the Nations Cup at Saumur. Angus and his family recently made the sad decision to sell Grayswood Orlando after 3 years of much joy and success. He will now go on to continue what he does best and teach his new rider the ropes. As Angus turns 16 later this year it is the end of his career in Ponies so Hagelkruis Valentijn will also be going to pastures new. The 12 year old gelding was bought a year ago from Holland where he was achieving high scores at FEI and being praised for his excellent movement. The combination achieved a fine score of 72.75% in the Pony Freestyle to gain 2nd place and came 3rd in the Medium Freestyle to Music with 70.67%. Angus’s exciting up and coming horse who he hopes to prepare for Juniors is Walters Fable a dark bay 16.2hh gelding who he has only had for 3 months. Despite being 10 years old, Walters Fable has little competition experience and therefore is still in Novice points. Angus is beginning to progress his competing and training and it is proving promising for the future as in their first ever Medium they were placed 4th with a score of 68%. Angus went on to explain; ‘‘he is an extremely trainable horse with a great brain. We have gone from not being about to sustain a canter to competing at Medium in just 3 months. We have already begun changes now and look to take him out at Advanced Medium in the near future, we are now working towards our first Junior test which is in December’’ Walters Fable went on to win the Sue Carson Saddles Elementary 43 with a fantastic score of 71.55% as well as coming 2nd in the Tottie Under 25s Novice Championship with a score of 70.75%.
