The Backyard

The backyard itself is going to be your biggest project . Clearing out overgrowth , trimming bushes , planting new ones ; these are all things that have to be done to get your outdoor space into a “ livable ” condition .
Begin by doing all necessary lawn maintenance , which includes weeding , mowing , edging , trimming , pulling , and planting . Add some pops of color to your backyard as well by hanging plants from your patio or deck . If you have been daydreaming about having your own garden for years , but haven ’ t been able to bring yourself to do the work , now is the time . Start small by planting in a raised garden bed off to the side , facing the sun .
One addition that can turn any backyard into a fun living space is a fire pit . Arrange seating around the pit and add soft lighting above for a cozy , warming environment . Your guests ( and yourself !) will enjoy sitting by the fire , roasting marshmallows ,
and talking into the night hours all season long . Be sure to add stepping stones to the pit , and any other living space in your backyard , so that your grass doesn ’ t suffer from traffic .
Defining your outdoor space is all about defining your personal style . You want to project yourself onto your guests , in a welcoming and unique way . Everyone is pleased to receive compliments about their home , especially when they ’ ve worked so hard to achieve the final look .
This season , pick out a few inspirational items to start your lawn and garden journey . Inspiration pieces are the driving force of any design , so having these items on hand will keep you focused and at ease . Love your outdoor space this year , and incorporate nature into your living areas , as you enjoy every bit of your property , your way !
