Cream Cheese

Stuffed French Toast

This decadent dish is a mouthwatering breakfast or dessert . If I ever run a bed and breakfast , this will be on the menu ! — Emily
Cream cheese is actually just one type of the “ cream cheeses .” Other types of “ cream cheeses ” are ricotta , mascarpone , and cottage cheese .
INGREDIENTS
1 loaf French bread ( 16 slices ) 6 eggs 1 cup milk 3 tsp . vanilla extract , divided 2 tsp . cinnamon , divided 1 ( 8-oz .) package cream cheese , softened 2 Tbsp . powdered sugar
DIRECTIONS
Leave the French bread slices out for several hours or over night so they dry out a bit beforehand . Set aside .
Whisk together the eggs , milk , 2 teaspoons of the vanilla , and 1 teaspoon of the cinnamon in a shallow , wide dish .
In a separate bowl , mix together the cream cheese , powdered sugar , remaining teaspoon of vanilla , and remaining teaspoon of cinnamon . Warm up a frying pan on medium heat .
Spread the cream cheese mixture fairly thin ( about ¹ ∕8-inch thick ) between 2 slices of bread . Dip both outer faces of the stuffed French toast in the egg mixture and then place in the frying pan . Flip after about 2 minutes , or until the facedown side has started to brown .
Repeat with all the French bread . Serve while still warm with maple syrup , whipped cream , and fruit .
