Budget-Friendly Facelifts

CABINETRY

One aspect that can really change a room is storage . If cabinetry looks dated , the entire room may feel that way . Take , for example , your kitchen . Could the cabinets use an upgrade ? Would you like to makeover that boring island ? Start by painting the cabinets . Paint is a cheap alternative to swapping out completely new pieces .
Take the cabinets apart accordingly , and repaint them , mixing and matching fun colors for a fresh look . If your kitchen is neutral in color , opt for a bold hue to really make the cabinets stand out , such as blue against a beige backdrop , or red against gray / white . Once you ’ ve added a burst of color , you can change out the hardware and add a new accent rug , and you ’ re done !
Another way to update cabinetry is by re-facing the doors . Take out the wooden panel , and replace it with glass inserts , or for a more informal , cottage look , try chicken wire . You can also simply remove the doors all together for a more modern , open look .
Let pretty dishes and sentimental gravy boats be seen by all . This adds more visual appeal to the room , and still keeps your kitchen functional . If you ’ re not happy with the displaying the insides of your cabinets , then you can apply an adhesive backing in a fun pattern to brighten up the design . Try fun geometrical shapes , or a bold solid color
