Dumbo’s Feather is a traditional Irish/Scottish/World Folk
trio formed following the demise of popular Devon band
The Maguires in late 2012. Former Maguires members Alice
McShane and Richie Evans
have linked up with long-time
regular Richie Evans collaborator, the legendary Bob King to
form a trio, inspired in no small
measure by the fantastic sound
created by the Rua MacMillan
trio when Richie Evans Music
promoted this great Scottish
band in 2012.
Dumbo’s Feather is comprised
of three vastly experienced
traditional folk musicians who
have performed in some quality folk bands in the past. Alice McShane was touring
fiddle player with the much-acclaimed Somerset-based Five
Furious Fish prior to taking a sabbatical. Bob King was a founder member of legendary English traditional folk band Flowers
and Frolics in the 1970s, a band
whose popularity is so enduring
that they were wonderfuly well
received when playing a series
of concerts at Sidmouth Folk
Week 2013. Richie Evans was
a member of seminal Scottish
folk band The Gaels in the early
1990s.
Dumbo’s Feather kicked off life
as a band officially, and appropriately enough, in a St. Patrick’s weekend in March 2013,
with a double header of shows,
and beyond that, we will seek
to thrill music fans everywhere
with our passionate take on
classic reels, jigs, polkas, airs,
and traditional and modern
folk songs.
