As we arrived at the church the
weather was kind and the sun began
to shine. Holding onto my dad’s arm,
with my bridesmaids and Annie be-
hind me, I made the walk down the
aisle with the organ playing. Every-
one turned and the reassuring smiles
helped with the nerves and trying
not to trip over my dress! Sudden-
ly, I didn’t have the nerves anymore
as I saw Tiny standing there, looking
at me, with best man Mark and little
James in his matching suit. I held
back the tears and took Tiny’s hand.
The Ceremony in Tiny’s Words
As Mark and I stood in the church
porch meeting all our friends and
family, nerves had started to kick in.
I’m certainly not a big speaker and
the thought of saying my vows right,
worried me. I dare say the swig from
the hip flask with my best man may
have helped! My mum Sue brought
James over to us and we made our
way into the church, I couldn’t wait
to see Jane. As the organ started to
play and we took our places I took a
deep breath, turned around and saw
her, she looked amazing. A massive
smile took over my face as I watched
her walk towards me and I took her
hand.
The service was lovely and I didn’t
stumble over my vows! We finished
the service with the hymn All Things
Bright and Beautiful and went to
sign the register.
The Reception
After the service, everyone headed
back to the reception which was at
Lakeside, Roadford Lake. Lakeside
is a truly breath taking spot with a
740-acre lake nestled in Devon’s
rolling hills on the edge of Dart-
moor.
As we left the church, after a burst
of photos in the sunshine, I saw Ti-
ny’s contribution to the Wedding
planning. His rather clean and shiny
John Deere tractor with cream rib-
bons sat waiting for me! Tiny jumped
in and helped me up. I wasn’t quite
sure if my dress would fit in, but,
with some tactful positioning, I was
in and off we went. We arrived at
the reception and all the guests were
little church in the heart of the vil-
lage of Bridestowe. Both our chil-
dren had been christened here, by
our larger than life vicar Adrian, and
knew it was where we wanted to get
married.
