So much so that some say we’ve lost our connection with the very people around us. There’s no denying that the way we communicate has changed, but I can promise you that our sense of community remains strong and key to fulfilling our important mission. As Executive Director of Eversight Connecticut, I get the opportunity to see people of all ages, from all walks of life — surgeons, researchers, healthcare professionals, philanthropists and members of long-established service clubs — working together to restore sight and prevent blindness for the people in our community. 4 5 6 9 eversightvision.org/connecticut Cover story photos by Craig Norton Photography 0929_CT-VISION-Fall2016.indd 2 In this issue of Vision, you will read about a few of these extraordinary individuals and groups. We welcome you to join us in caring for the people of Connecticut. Whether you choose to volunteer your time, make a financial contribution to support our meaningful work or simply encourage others to join the Connecticut Donor Registry, you are truly making a difference. I look forward to working together to grow our impact, deliver exceptional care and continue to make vision a reality for all people in need. Ryan Cady Executive Director All about Vision Eversight Connecticut is a 501(c)3 independent, not-for-profit organization. We restore sight and prevent blindness through the healing power of donation, transplantation and research. Our mission is made possible by the generosity of donors and their families, dedicated professionals and financial support from charitable contributors. These connections are what make our mission thrive. 10 Growing impact Expansion brings new possibilities Partners in vision Harvard researcher seeks cures with Eversight grant Cover story Surgeon gets patients back to living life to the fullest Project KidSight Lions partnership brings vision screening to thousands of children across Connecticut Local impact Restoring sight through community eye banking 10/13/16 11:39 AM
