Mikhaela & John Nuptials with A Natural Twist New Zealand is known for its lush, green landscapes and pristine beaches. But when it came time to plan their wedding, South African-born Kiwi couple Mikhaela and John decided to say ‘I do’ at the iconic Boschendal Wine Estate – with its picturesque views of the Western Cape. Our team worked closely with the couple to ensure that their wedding was unique and personal. Since they are both lovers of the great outdoors, the ceremony took place at Boschendal’s top lawn – nestled among tall pine trees, overlooking the Helshoogte mountains. Nothing adds sentiment to your big day like getting friends and family involved. Actress Eva Longoria had her wedding gown designed by her BFF, Victoria Beckham, ahead of her recent wedding. Our bride, Mikhaela, was lucky enough to have her mom, Esta, put together a gorgeous Chuppah made from photos of the couple printed on canvas. Their Jewish ceremony was complete with beautiful symbolic rituals and traditional songs sung by wedding singer, Selwyn. As soon as the glass was broken, guests moved onto pre-dinner drinks and canapés. Lawn games kept them entertained, while a delicious harvest table meant that no-one went hungry before dinner. As a wedding is an extremely [04] personal affair, we often look to the couple’s palate for inspiration when conceptualising a menu. In this case, Mikhaela and John chose a strictly vegetarian and vegan menu for their guests. The setting at the Olive Press venue was natural – emulating the couple’s style. Long wooden tables adorned the reception, with two spectacular candelabras and mixed seating. The décor had a rustic Tuscan influence and worked effortlessly with the soft lavender flowers in terra cotta pots. In fact, the décor looked so good, you could eat it… Literally. We used salads, breads, olives and pâté as part of the table setting. Small tea light candles intermittently scattered along the tables created a warm glow. From the traditional Horah dancing before dinner, to the live band leading guests into the night – it was a truly memorable day for Mikhaela and John. We especially loved the heartfelt speeches and personal touches to the décor by the mother of the bride. As luck would have it, there wasn’t a single drop of rain on their special day. We look forward to helping them coordinate their anniversary celebrations, in years to come. Mazeltov, Mikhaela and John!
