It’s always a compliment to have
International clients return to South
Africa for another round of events,
as the first was such a success!
Recently,
we
managed
and
coordinated a cocktail reception
for our client OCLC – the very same
client we assisted with a seated
dinner this time last year. This year,
the World Library and Information
Congress took place in August
at the Cape Town International
Convention
Centre.
Delegates
arrived from all over the world
and our client thought it fitting to
host their annual reception during
this conference.
The brief from the client was to
ensure the event took place in an
unusual and interesting venue and
so we thought the best way to do
that would be to host a cocktailstyle event for their 400 guests at
the Two Oceans Aquarium - the
client loved the idea!
The theme was “African Chic” which
needed to be expertly paired with
the gorgeous marine life that was
on display at the Aquarium. We
chose white, sleek lounge furniture
which was placed throughout the
venue for guests to relax and view
the impressive double volume fish
tanks. A combination of whitetopped cocktail tables and glass
cafe tables were used on the lower
levels of the Predator Tank area. Soft
blue cushions were added in the
Kelp Forest for those that wanted
to take 5 and absorb the tranquillity
of the motion of the Kelp.

Hearty canapés were served
throughout the evening paired with
local wines including our well-liked
Pinotage, which was a massive
hit. Background classical music
filled the Aquarium, which was an
ironic contradiction to the audible
excitement of the guests! The end
of the evening came on rather
swiftly and guests wandered back
through the venue to their vehicles
with constant compliments on
the evening – I think it is fair to say
we will be seeing OCLC here in
Cape Town again soon!
