Carisa & Frank
A Crisp Country Affair
Generally, brides hope for the best
weather on their wedding day. As we always say, weddings are personal to each
couple; and so when their wedding day
turned out to be on the crisp side, Carisa
and Frank were more than pleased. It’s
exactly what they wanted. Their relaxed
ceremony and reception took place in
the naturally beautiful Elandskloof. Only
an hour and a half outside of Cape Town,
it is an effortlessly gorgeous destination
wedding venue.
The ceremony took place under a
Bedouin tent, where most guests stood.
There were dark vintage couches, setup
in cinema style, for the older guests, but
the couple wanted the rest of their guests
to stand to create a more relaxed atmosphere. After the short ceremony, this area
was transformed into the pre-dinner
drinks celebration with a variety of food
stations throughout and a mahogany
plinth bar serving port, red wine and bubbly to keep the cold wind at bay. Heaters
and fire baskets were placed throughout
this area as well - adding a sense of
warmth and romance.

The reception had a dark winter feel with
bare mahogany tables and walnut back
chairs. Hints of gold were brought in, to
create an elegant and majestic feel,
through the gold cutlery and candelabras, which were dressed with black
candles. A combination of crystal vases
and gold urns were filled with greenery
and dark florals, such as black
Roses, contrasted with white and pink
Hydrangeas. The result: a very expressive and moody look and feel. It’s the
kind of impression the bride wanted for
her winter wedding.
The bridal couple wanted a relaxed celebration and an exclusion of some of the
usual traditions. There was no throwing
of the bouquet and no wedding cake. Instead, for dessert we set up a pancake
station with delicious toppings. It was an
absolute hit! There is nothing better than
when a bridal couple bring in their personal nuances and that is what made
Carisa and Frank’s wedding a huge success. We were thrilled to be part of their
special day!
