RED/JD: How was your New Years?
EVDG: It was good I hung out with my son and daughter. (laugh)
RED/JD: Good for you ( laugh)
EVDG: Yeah, let me know when you're ready?
RED/JD: I am ready.
I began recording the interview on my MAC and I started with the typical questions.Having conversed with The Martin power
team several times previously I became more intrigued with this couple and their accounts from start to the current growth as
an agency and Brand.
EVDG: How did you get started with Red Models?
RED/JD: My daughter actually began modeling with the former owner of Red Models. My husband
Dale and I eventually bought the business in February.
EVDG: So the models that are there , did they come with the company or did you recruit them?
RED/JD: I'll say 75% of my board were already there and stayed with me and I brought in the other
25%.
EVDG: And since you've acquired the business how is business? I know you were recognized by
Alabama business association?
RED/JD: Alabama Fashion Alliance voted us top agency in 2014 and we also had Next out of LA,
FORD out of New York, Wilhelmina out of Miami and International Scout all flew out within 2months of each other a couple
of months ago which was a great honor because we have not been in the business as long as some have been.
Then a pause
Our 16-17 hour days are exhausting yet rewarding when you get that kind of recognition.
EVDG: So basically in 10 months you received this notoriety?
RED/JD: Yes we actually have 3 models signed 1 in New York and 2 in LA.
EVDG: Are you associated with the RED Models in NY?
RED/JD I am not.
EVDG: Do you plan on expanding?
RED/JD: My first goal is to expand into Atlanta, to get an office there , we already work there, we have
models there but I would like to have another agent. Of course my lifetime dream would be to have an agency in LA, Miami
and New York as well.
EVDG: What is the process for choosing a RED Model because being an attractive woman is not enough.
RED/JD: No it isn't , there is a form “How to become a model” and I take the form into consideration and I talk to them, see
