In addition to the planning of new facilities and major renovations, we also offer long-term strategic planning services. This planning is geared towards courses where there is a desire to make planned improvements over a period of time as funds or opportunity presents. Two such plans completed recently are for The London Club and Bom Sucesso Resort.

The London Club is a Jack Nicklaus designed 36 hole facility to the east of London. Nothing we have proposed fundamentally changes the original layout, but over the years some of the definition and playing strategy has been lost, so working with Stephen Follett, the Chief Executive, and Peter Todd, the Courses Manager, we’ve prepared planning to improve both elements of the courses.

At Bom Sucesso, new owners wish to improve the sustainability of the resort, predominantly by removing areas of turf and replacing that with non-irrigated indigenous landscape planting. In addition, a review of the agronomic conditions and the infrastructure, including the irrigation system and cart paths, has led to a five to ten year plan for improvements.

Both courses are members of the European Tour Destinations family.

Dubai Hills Nears Completion

Part of the new Mohammed bin Rashid City complex close to Downtown, construction of the golf course at Dubai Hills is just about completed. All holes are now grassed and the remaining work predominantly involves landscaping and infrastructure. Commenting on the current state of the course, project designer Gary Johnston said “It's very exciting to see Dubai Hills nearing completion. We wanted to create a dramatic golf course while making sure that it remained playable and enjoyable at the same time and hopefully we have been able to achieve that. The wide fairways and generously sized greens allow for a degree of forgiveness while the deep wadi-like valleys and the challenging closing holes along the lakes keep things interesting.”.

The course has been constructed by Desert Landscapes under the supervision of Gary and our construction manager, Kyle Taggart. It is due to open towards the end of this year.
