THIS YEAR WAS ABOUT TRUST
ONLINE AND DIGITAL JOBS
Aimed at enabling more and more citizens to benefit of the increasingly advanced online
services, this year Get Online Week was raising awareness about confidence online.
Also, the campaign brought stakeholders together at national and local level to provide
training and support to youth and unemployed towards digital careers.
ADDRESSING TRUST AND CONFIDENCE
PROMOTING DIGITAL CAREERS
As trust and confidence on the internet is becoming
a more complex and hard to address issue, the
campaign partners organised events to educate
people about cyber-security, online identities,
e-commerce, social media, and ICT tools to become
confident Internet users.
Europeans need the right skills to get the most
out of the digital economy and digital single
market. Thousands of events were organised to
raise awareness about the skills gap and related
employment opportunities. It is also important
that SMEs are well informed about relevant ICTs to
go digital: to do so they first need to upgrade the
digital skills of their employees.
Among many activities, some examples include:
• Informative events about personal data, online
banking and safety online
• Multimedia workshops for beginners and
migrants
• Awareness raising workshops and seminars about
the use of social media
• Events on active citizenship and available tools to
engage with local and EU politicians
• Teaching accessible web for people with
disabilities.

The following activities took place across Europe:
• Training events using CISCO Networking
Academy to teach basic IT knowledge
• Workshops to create online portfolios using
YouRock.jobs and boost youth’s employability
• Workshops for young people to assess their
skills on Skillage.eu
• Coding classes for kids and teenagers from
underprivileged areas to explore ICT related
careers
• Other awareness raising events (conferences,
career fairs, awards, seminars, meeting ICT
professionals, etc.).
