ITALY http://www.getonlineweek.eu/italy/ The key event of the campaign in Rome was the RomeCup: Excellence in Robotics that is promoted every year in March, in collaboration with the Municipality of Rome and the National Headmaster Association. The extraordinary 10th edition brought 5,000 participants and was extensively covered by media. 156 student team from 58 schools in 17 regions were competing in the first Robotic Olympics. 20 labs for students aged 6-19 in a variety of areas and a lab for teachers were organised. 100 prototypes were designed and developed by students. In the second GOW run in Emilia Romagna by the Pane e Internet (PeI) network 62 live events were organised with over 1,600 participants. Open Group–one of the new GOW partners–opened the week with the ABC Digitale event on March 11-12. Almost 400 children, young people and parents attended digital activities, including a YouRock presentation, organised in collaboration with Bologna’s CoderDojo, FabLab, ASPHI and others during the two days. On March 14, Radio Città del Capo devoted a weekly radio program Pensatech to digital technology and innovation. Altogether, 24 PeI digital literacy courses attracted 350 people, mostly adults, the elderly and unemployed people. Six “Internet in the library? Easier together” were organised to present PeI’s digital facilitation services and recruit volunteers. In the Rimini and Pavullo PeI Points, digital facilitators were trained on digital employment services and how to exploit the Internet for job search. the professionals” events, aimed at showing new work opportunities created by the ever evolving digital economy.
