It ’ s no suprise that it was around the Mediterranean that humans first invented the concept of leisure . And it ’ s also in the Mediterranean region that it ’ s been perfected . With almost perfect weather and warm clear seas , the Med is just made for relaxing . Cyprus , the third biggest island in the Med , is the perfect place to take time out . It has the warmest winters , the beaches are clean and white , the sea is blue and clear , and the pace of life is gentle . It ’ s a great place for a holiday , and , even better , it ’ s a great place to live or invest . As well as the climate and natural attractions , it scores very high on the Human Development Index , indicating a high standard of living in a social as well as a financial sense . Cyprus is part of the European Union , so , if you ’ re keen on getting a European passport , this is a promising route .
In the south-west of the island is Paphos , the birthplace of the goddess of love . Venus , or Aphrodite as she is also called , roamed these hills and beaches in antiquity , bestowing romance on mortals who earned her favour . And her playground has since been developed into the delightfully stylish and secure Venus Gardens . Located on a hill with stunning sea views , Venus Gardens is a mere five-minute walk to the beach , but a short drive to the city centre and the bustling promenade and harbour .
With vast open green communal areas , the houses are built in such a way as to give a “ single residential ” feel .
