The creators Eric Nakkila and Godfried van Rooij spent three years experimenting to achieve the Nakymatone natural and musical sound . Unlike other speakers , the sound barely travels out of the back of the speaker , meaning less noise breaks through to other rooms .
Controlled Resonance Technology ( CRT ) is used to great effect . The cabinet and exciters drive a soundboard on the fascia of the speaker which acts much like an instrument , generating sound waves . CRT helps to avoid resonances and eliminate colouration . All models have Backboxes , High Pass Filters and Overload Protection built in to the design and are the only fully enclosed models like this on the market . They run at 8 Ohms and disperse music at 180 x 180 degrees to fill the room .
Amina believes that the increased demand for multi-room and multi-channel audio in the home , together with the trend for modern clean designs , the requirement for discreet , and specifically invisible audio solutions is growing all the time . Since Amina first developed the plaster over speaker in 2001 , the technology has continued to evolve and the company has very much removed the barrier between aesthetics and audio performance .
All Amina ’ s invisible speakers are more akin to an acoustical musical instrument in terms of sound propagation characteristics , than a conventional moving coil cone based solution . The sound disperses hemispherically from the wall or ceiling , right across the frequency range , giving even room filling sound and a complete listening experience over a large area .
Amina ’ s Mobius Series was created to give the ultimate in mid-high frequency detail and clarity . The product is designed for optimum sound quality when covered with a 2mm final skim plaster coat or equivalent such as wood , wood veneer , leather or even sheet slate , allowing interior design flexibility .
Launched earlier in 2017 , the Amina Edge Series uses a brand new soundboard structure designed to be used without additional material on the front panel , other than standard decorating . This soundboard , developed in collaboration with a European composite specialist , uses a high performance glass filled core making it stiff , light and damped . It is 6dB more efficient that the equivalent Mobius Series speaker for the same power in and allows a greatly enhanced low frequency response down to 45Hz for the Edge7 . It provides an excellent listening experience without the need for additional bass enhancement .
Whilst more suppliers are stepping onto the invisible speaker platform , there are increasingly different levels of quality / performance products on the market , Amina concludes . Those who specify such products need to understand the complete package including ease of install , frequency range , dispersion characteristics and options for installation , to ensure a genuinely invisible high end solution the client is going to thoroughly enjoy .

The slim pendant speakers utilise a minimal design similar to pendant lighting . Their integrated top cover hides the hanging hardware and wiring connector for a supersmart finish , and they ’ re supplied with hanging kits and two Gripple hangers to ensure a safe and secure installation . The inceiling models offer an optional square grille in black or white , which allows the speakers to match the aesthetic of square downlights and HVAC grilles for a pristine in-ceiling look . A sealed metal back-box ensures high audio quality while incorporating secure cable / conduit clamping . The surface-mount speakers feature Sonance ’ s Fast-Mount bracket and front cable connection to speed up the installation process while preserving a sleek , minimal wall profile on inside or outside surfaces .
